AFCI Education Center,  understandinggay.org  is a free website sponsored by the Association for Family and Community Integrity (AFCI). This site provides guided resources aimed at helping family members and support networks better understand gay people.

We use the word “Gay” when we are speaking about all Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning (LGBTQ) individuals and groups. This website is intended to help prevent gay youth rejection and homelessness through education.

Parents and family support systems educated about gay children may be the key to the continued development of a happy and healthy family.  Siblings and close friends are often an invaluable aid to the person coming out.

This website and the topics offered by the Association for Family and Community Integrity (AFCI) strive to give you meaningful and accurate information. We encourage you to access and share these online resources to further your understanding.
